Crummy Notebook Paper

I've been working on the handwritten draft these past couple of days and have made some progress, but I've been getting very agitated by the fact that my pens don't seem to want to write on the notebook paper I'm using. It must be too waxy or something. I'm wondering if getting a pen that's not ballpoint or gel will help with this problem. I suppose that means that I'm off to the stationary store.
